St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kharkiv Continues to Help City Residents and IDPs

Each new day of service begins with a communal prayer at the Divine Liturgy. Then, an organized team of volunteers and parishioners of the church get to work.

The volunteers from church community distribute food packages provided by the Patriarchal Foundation “Wise Cause” to IDPs from urban-type settlements in the Kharkiv region.

The volunteers serve more than just people who come to receive humanitarian aid. Using vehicles and drivers ready to assist, they visit and deliver aid to individuals who are bedridden or left alone. Such meetings become a chance for these people to socialize and share their experiences and feelings.

Every day, the parish community of the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker provides food to those who have lost their homes, jobs, and lives, provides fellowship to those who have lost hope for a better and more dignified life, and creates spaces of life where the enemy is trying to sow fear, destruction, and suffering.

We want to add that the project to assemble and provide food packages to the victims of the Russian war in Ukraine is supported by philanthropists and caring people from around the world. Among them are the Metropolitan Archeparchy of Philadelphia, the Apostolic Exarchate in Germany and Scandinavia, the Diocese of the Holy Family with its seat in London (UK), the Diocese of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul with its seat in Melbourne (Australia), the Eparchy of St. Josaphat with its seat in Parma (Ohio, USA), the Catholic Church in Austria, the Knights of Columbus, the Oeuvre d’Orient Charitable Foundation, the CNEWA Charitable Organization, the FACE Charitable Organization, Japan, Estonia, Romania.
