New Westminster Eparchy in Canada appoints a ruling bishop

Today, on August 24, 2023, the Vatican announced that His Holiness Pope Francis, having blessed the decision of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, appointed Fr Mykhailo Kvyatkovsky as the ruling bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of New Westminster in Western Canada, reports the press service of the Holy See.
Father Mykhailo Kvyatkovsky, previously Chancellor of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg of the UGCC, will become the fourth bishop for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in the province of British Columbia and the Yukon since the establishment of the New Westminster Diocese for them in 1974.
Details of the episcopal ordination and enthronement will be announced later.
