The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Krylos is conferred the title of Patriarchal Procathedral
On August 6, during the All-Ukrainian Patriarchal pilgrimage to the Krylos Miraculous Icon of the Mother of God on the occasion of the 1125th anniversary of Halych, the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav announced the establishment of the Patriarchal courtyard in Krylos, with the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary as its main center.

“We want to solemnly proclaim this church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Krylos, which was built from the bricks of the princely cathedral of the Assumption, as our procathedral,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav announced.
The decree on the establishment of the Patriarchal Courtyard in the village of Krylos of the Galician territorial community states that Halych has long been the center of church life, the seat of Galician bishops and metropolitans, and since the fifteenth century, Kyivan metropolitans have used the designation ‘Galician’ in their title and appointed their superiors to take care of the people of God in these territories.
Considering the history and importance of ancient Halych for the Church and the Ukrainian people, the Head of the Church announced the establishment of the Patriarchal Courtyard in the village of Krylos of the Halych territorial community, the center of which became the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Head of the UGCC explained that from now on, the main church in our church is the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, which this year celebrates the 10th anniversary of its consecration. To strengthen and unify the Kyiv-Galician axis, which serves as the foundation for the European identity of the Ukrainian people, the Procathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Krylos became the second most important church.
