On December 17, the parish of the Holy Trinity in Poltava hosted a traditional charity Christmas fair, an important initiative of the Poltava center of the League of Greek Catholic Women. Over the past seven years, this event has become an integral part of the spiritual life of the parish community, bringing the faithful together on the eve of St. Nicholas Day and Christmas to fulfill a noble mission, as the website of the Kharkiv Exarchate of the UGCC reports.

Holy Trinity Parish of Poltava Holds a Charity Fair for Orphans

The rector, Fr. Yuriy Krolevsky, highly appreciates and supports this charitable event, considering it expresses sincere love for the neighbor.

This year’s fair offered not only traditional sweet pastries but also a variety of handmade products, including decorated Christmas candles, icons, bracelets, and women’s beaded jewelry created by a talented craftswoman, Ms. Olha Balyta.

Ms. Olha, head of the local branch of the League of Greek Catholic Women, underscored the significance of pursuing peace initiatives even though the parish, notably the Knights of Columbus men’s fraternal community, actively supports the Armed Forces and residents of the de-occupied territories in these difficult times.

Overall, the fair raised UAH 12,249, including St. Nicholas’ box donations. These funds will be channeled to the House of Mercy in Demenky village.
