On Friday, August 5, the head of the Pastoral Migration Department of the UGCC, Bishop Stepan Sus, celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Lady in Sambir on the occasion of the beginning of the XVII International Symposium of Migrants and Their Families Sambir-Zarvanytsia. This year, as in previous years, it takes place online.
“For a Christian as well as for a layman, prayer is the strongest weapon against evil. Against everything that takes away our peace. We have ten days to pray hard. And we must cease praying until we end the war,” the bishop urged the pilgrims.
Bishop Stepan noted that from now on, the Sambir-Zarvanytsia sanctuary is a sanctuary not only for migrants but also for refugees and forcibly displaced persons.
After the Liturgy, all those present prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary in front of the Sambir miraculous icon.
The first day of the pilgrimage ended with a prayer at the Stations of the Cross near Pro-Cathedral Church of the Intercession of Our Most Holy Lady in Sambir. On August 6 and further on, the pilgrimage will continue online.
