A Place to Shape the Future: New Plast Center Blessed and Opened in Zarvanytsia
On July 3, a new Plast Center was blessed and officially opened at Marian Spiritual Center in Zarvanytsia in the presence of bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The new facility will serve as a permanent home for youth camps, leadership training, and the spiritual formation of young Ukrainians.
The blessing ceremony and prayers for God’s guidance for Ukraine’s youth were led by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, Metropolitan Teodor Martynyuk of Ternopil—Zboriv, Bishop Dmytro Hryhorak of Buchach, and Bishop Hlib Lonchyna. The event brought together clergy, government officials, benefactors, and Plast members representing several generations.
Metropolitan Borys Gudziak and Fr. Yanuariy Tverdun, chaplain and scout leader of the Zarvanytsia Plast chapter, addressed those in attendance. They emphasized the importance of raising young people with strong Christian values and a deep sense of civic responsibility, especially during these challenging times, and reflected on the journey that led to the completion of the new Plast Center. A special part of the celebration honored the many people who helped bring the project to life. The bishops presented certificates of appreciation to donors, volunteers, and builders whose dedication and generosity made the new home possible.
Following the official ceremony and a time of fellowship members of the Order of Crusaders met with the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Their discussion focused on the challenges facing Ukraine’s youth movement, the exchange of leadership and educational experience, and the long-term vision for the future development of Plast.
The opening of the Plast Center in Zarvanytsia marks an important milestone in strengthening the infrastructure that supports Ukrainian youth. The new center is intended to become a place where prayer, learning, service, and fellowship will help shape a new generation of leaders committed to building a strong, free, and flourishing Ukraine.
