All UGCC Churches to Pray for Peace in Ukraine and Worldwide Today
On October 27, 2023, His Holiness Pope Francis proclaimed the Day of Prayer and Fasting as a churchwide day of prayer and fasting. At the call of the Father and the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, a Divine Liturgy for peace in Ukraine and the world, will be celebrated in all churches on this day.
The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, the main shrine of the UGCC, starts at 9:00. Zhyve TV will provide the live broadcast.
Thus, at 7:00 PM, Zhyve Television will rebroadcast the Hour of Prayer from St. Peter’s Basilica with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian.
At 8 PM, the traditional live broadcast of the rosary prayer will begin.
Pope Francis proclaimed the last Friday of October as the Day of Fasting, Prayer, and Penance, extending an invitation to brothers and sisters of various Christian denominations and those of other religions to join in. Specifically, he called to remember the suffering of Ukraine and all parts of the world wounded by war.
In response to the call of Pope Francis, His Beatitude Sviatoslav called on the faithful of the UGCC to spend October 27 in fasting and prayer.
