On October 27, 2023, Pope Francis proclaimed a Day of Fasting, Prayer, and Penance, inviting brothers and sisters from various Christian denominations, as well as those from other religions, to join. In response to this call of the Holy Father, His Beatitude Sviatoslav called on the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church around the world to participate in this initiative by spending this day in prayer and fasting.

On October 18, during a meeting with pilgrims, the Pope called for a remembrance of Ukraine’s suffering. He also turned his thoughts to the Holy Land and all parts of the world wounded by war. “Brothers and sisters, please do not stop praying for peace and do not forget about the suffering Ukraine; though it may not be in the headlines, the tragedy persists,” Pope Francis said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav calls on the faithful of the UGCC to participate in the Pope’s initiative, urging that on October 27, Divine Liturgies for peace in Ukraine and around the world be celebrated in all churches. Additionally, he encourages everyone to join the Holy Father in a communal hour of prayer and penance for peace in our time, which will take place at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Another moment of the meeting of the faithful of the UGCC should be a prayer on the rosary as part of the initiative “Rosary Unites.”

On October 27, at 9:00 AM, Zhyve Television will broadcast a live transmission of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy from the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

At 7 PM there will be rebroadcast with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian of the hour of prayer from St. Peter’s Basilica.

At 8 PM — the traditional live broadcast of the rosary prayer.
