UGCC community presents mobile laundry and shower units to Ukrainian troops
On May 1, 2023, the parish of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC in Pyrohiv donated mobile laundry and shower units to the Ukrainian army, essential for meeting the basic hygiene needs of the military. In this way, the goal was to allow the defenders to take a warm shower, wash and dry their clothes, warm up, and recuperate.
The parish launched a large-scale fundraiser in March of this year to precede the complex transfer. The parishioners purchased this complex for the money raised, together with the Riy Charitable Foundation. They handed it over to one of the military units performing its tasks in the East of Ukraine. Riy Charitable Foundation is implementing the project to equip such units in cooperation with the Ground Forces Logistics Command.
“Our parish is small for such a significant endeavor as collecting mobile laundry and shower units. But we have many friends who joined in and accomplished this task together. I thank everyone who joined, everyone who responded, and our defenders who are already using it! Together to victory!” said Fr. Roman Ilnytsky, parish administrator.
He said that many people worldwide joined the charity event, including UGCC parishes abroad: the parish of the Mother of God in Tallinn (Estonia), the faithful of the UGCC in Estonia and Finland, the parish of St. Josaphata Hordashevska in Getafe (Spain).
Together with the parishioners of the UGCC, the Riy Charitable Foundation solemnly handed over the keys to the “MLSU-Riy-3” to the A1937 unit, which is performing tasks in the East of Ukraine, and this week the defenders will be able to recuperate thanks to a warm shower.
