Their charitable activities in social service will cover the territories of Kherson, Skadovsk, and Kirovohrad deaneries of the Odesa Exarchate of the UGCC.

The great war started by Russia caused a humanitarian crisis. Considering the circumstances, there is a need to help and support those in need.

According to Fr Oleksandr Bilsky, administrator of the Parish of the Maccabees Martyrs and director of Caritas-Beryslav, establishing the charitable organization in the city opens up new opportunities to help those in need. “This means that the city’s residents, suburban villages, and settlements of the Kherson region will be able to receive the necessary help and support,” the priest wrote on Facebook, commenting on the opening of Caritas in Beryslav.

Fr. Ihor Makar, the administrator of the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zelenivka and director of Caritas-Kherson, also commented on the opening of the Caritas center. The priest noted that “before Caritas was founded, our resources and the territory itself had been scarced. By opening the Caritas-Kherson Charitable Foundation, part of the Caritas-Ukraine family, we can go where people need us and cover more territories. Most importantly, the people who live there,” Fr. Ihor.

The regional Charitable Foundation Caritas Odesa of the UGCC has been operating since 2005. Parish Caritas offices have been opened in Mykolaiv and Vradiivka, Mykolaiv Oblast since. Their charitable activities embrace the territory of the Odesa and Mykolaiv deaneries of the Odesa Exarchate of the UGCC.
