The Primate made this appeal on June 28 during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated in Lviv to mark the 25th anniversary of Saint Pope John Paul II’s visit to Ukraine.

“I earnestly ask you: pray that this Synod, which we are convening once again during wartime, may be a special grace of the Holy Spirit for our Church, so that the decisions we make may truly renew it in Ukraine and strengthen it in our communities,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The main theme of this year’s Synod is “Pastoral Care of Vocations to the Priesthood and Monastic Life”, and among the main agenda items is consideration of the completion of the third reading of the Code of Canons of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

Live broadcast of the prayer invoking the Holy Spirit at the opening of the Synod will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Live TV.
