The press service of the Odesa Exarchate reported the event.

Priests of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) concelebrated with the bishop during the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. The liturgy was enriched by the chanting of seminarians from the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary.

In his homily, Bishop Mykhailo welcomed the faithful and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the chapel’s renovation. He extended special thanks to Fr. Oleksiy Burov for his dedicated efforts, commitment, and pastoral care for the community.

“My heart rejoices for all of you,” the bishop said, recalling how he had ordained Fr. Oleksiy to the priesthood. “I granted him a blessing during his ordination and wished for another church to emerge in Mykolaiv. And he fulfilled my wish.”

The bishop encouraged the parishioners to unite around Christ, develop their parish, support their rector, bring new believers into the faith, and spread the word of God.

Following the liturgy, decrees were read establishing the parish of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Mykolaiv and appointing Fr. Oleksiy Burov, a graduate of the Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary, as its administrator. This is the second UGCC community in Mykolaiv and the youngest parish of the Odesa Exarchate.
