In Brazil, UGCC Bishops Honor Ukrainian Heroes on the Fourth Anniversary of the Full-Scale War
On February 22 in Prudentópolis, Brazil, following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Josaphat, celebrated by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, together with the bishops of the Permanent Synod, the heroes of Ukraine were honored on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav, together with the bishops, clergy, and numerous faithful, prayerfully processed through the streets of the city to pay tribute to the defenders of Ukraine’s freedom.
“Let us honor all those heroes, sons and daughters of our land, who gave their lives for our independence, our dignity, and our freedom. Let us pray for all those heroes who stand on the front lines today,” urged the Head of the Church.
The procession then made its way to the monument to Taras Shevchenko, a symbolic landmark for the Ukrainian community in the city. There, the Primate led a prayer for the fallen soldiers and civilians who have become victims of Russian aggression. The commemoration concluded with the laying of flowers at the monument and the joint singing of the Ukrainian national anthem.
