Vatican Dicastery for Education Recognizes Diplomas of Kyiv Three Saints Theological Seminary in Catholic Universities

The diplomas of the KTS were recognized for the first time on July 11, 2019, by the then Congregation for Catholic Education. This recognition is established through the Seminary’s affiliation with the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology of UCU.

The process of renewing the accreditation of the KTS began a year ago in cooperation between the Seminary’s academic director, Fr. Dr. R. Ostrovsky, and the Dean of the UCU Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, Fr. Yuriy Shchurko. Over the previous five years, close academic cooperation was established between the Dean’s Office of the Theological Faculty and the KTS, and the Dean of the Theological Faculty participates in defense of master’s theses and final exams in theology (5th year). Thanks to the assistance of the Dean of the Theological Faculty, seminarians participate in important scientific conferences and open lectures organized by UCU.

It should be added that according to the norms of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, the affiliation means that the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology of UCU assists the Kyiv Seminary in facilitating the educational process. At the same time, its graduates will receive a diploma from the UCU Faculty of Philosophy and Theology.

The process of renewing the affiliation of the KTS with the UCU Foundation was performed with the blessing and support of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head and Father of the UGCC, who is also the Grand Chancellor of the UCU Foundation. The Dicastery of the Roman Curia for Culture and Education highly commended the efforts of the UGCC to develop education, particularly in times of war.
