The Head of the UGCC congratulated the Sisters Servants on the occasion of the XV General Chapter taking place in Rome
On July 5, the regular Chapter of the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate began at the Pontifical Ukrainian College of St. Josaphat in Rome on the theme “Christ is our Life.” It will last until July 16. His Beatitude Sviatoslav greeted all the reverend sisters-delegates who represent 14 countries where they actively serve.
The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the opening of the XV Chapter of the Sisters of the Servants was presided over by the Apostolic Exarch in Italy, Bishop Dionysius Liakhovych, in co-celebration with the Rector of the College, Father Louis Kassian, OSBM, and the spiritual director of the College, Father Dionysius Zavediuk, OSBM.
In his congratulatory letter, the Head of the UGCC thanked all the participants of the General Chapter for their sacrificial ministering for the glory of God and the abundant development of the Church.
The Head of the Church noted that the theme of the chapter expands the horizons of vocation and responsibility for it, but at the same time, is an answer to the questions and challenges that present-day reality imposes on us. Quoting the Apostle Paul, His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that Jesus Christ is the solid rock on which a wise owner builds the house of his life. And according to the Gospel, no external or internal danger will damage it.
“All of you gathered at the Chapter in the Eternal City, have a prayer in your hearts and minds for Ukraine and its heroes who courageously resist the evil of the Russian occupier. I sincerely believe that the Lord will hear these prayers and grant us the long-awaited peace,” the Primate addressed the sisters of the ministers and added: “I ask you, dear sisters, to be the voice of truth about our struggle in the cities and towns where you live and serve. Speak not so much about the evil that the enemy is doing as about the great faith of our people in God in this tough time, which becomes visible in His bright deeds for the good of the one who suffers.”
