The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the diaspora and Christians around the world on Christmas. He thanked them for their Christian solidarity and support for Ukraine.

The Head of the UGCC congratulated Christians around the world on Christmas and thanked them for their great solidarity with Ukraine

“Christmas is a holiday of affection and closeness to us of God’s incarnate love. An incarnated God who wanted to be close and tender to us that he became a little Child and blesses the whole world today,” the archbishop said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav reminded us of the meaning of celebrating Christmas: “Celebrating Christmas does not mean finding a day on the calendar or organizing a social party. This is something much more profound. To celebrate Christmas is to receive God’s heavenly power, peace, and joy, which the Heavenly Father in the Son shares with us through the Holy Spirit.”

The Head of the UGCC thanked Christians from around the world for praying, concerning about Ukraine, and helping it today. According to him, various types of aid are coming to Ukraine from all over the world: warm clothes, generators, and other types of Christian and human solidarity.

“Today, throughout Europe and the world, many Christians are consuming less electricity to be in solidarity with us Ukrainians who are suffering from a lack of power, reducing the heating in their cathedrals and homes to be in solidarity with us in Ukraine, who are enduring the cold. Nowadays, the whole world wants to share its Christmas joy with us. Therefore, we thank everyone who celebrates Christmas today, thinking about Ukraine, as the Holy Father Francis calls for this,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

“To all those celebrating this great holiday today, we send our heartfelt Christmas wishes, God’s blessing, and a happy, peaceful coming year. From Ukraine, we say to them: Christ is born! Glorify Him!” added the Primate.
