The Head of the UGCC calls on international organizations not to allow Russia to close the Ukrainian grain corridor of life in the Black Sea

I appeal to all competent international institutions, to the United Nations, to the international organization FAO (The Food and Agriculture Organization), which fights hunger in the world, to church institutions: do not let the bread sea corridor of life be closed, which helps, on the one hand, to unblock Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea, and on the other hand, to serve those who need help the most. Feed the hungry! Today, Ukraine, suffering from the horrors of Russian aggression, feels this is its calling.

The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, appealed to international organizations with such a call, given that the grain agreement on supplying grain to various countries worldwide is under threat today. Moreover, at the end of November, due to the violent movements of Russia, it may end altogether.

“Odesa and Odesa region, — said the Primate, — are the sea gates of Ukraine. And today, these gates want to serve to prevent all the dangers of starvation among people in the world. Therefore, Ukraine has bread, which it has generously produced this year, and wants to share it with those in need. But, unfortunately, the grain agreement, which opened this sea route of life so that Ukrainian bread could reach those who need it very much through the Black Sea, is under threat.”

On this day, His Beatitude Sviatoslav also continued to reflect on what Ukraine should be like after the war and what is needed for the Ukrainian state to have the strength to develop so that we can build a just society that would bear the culture of life.

The Father and Head of the UGCC reflected on how we should fulfill our duty toward the Christian family as a Church and as Christians.

In his opinion, the state and the church community should jointly educate children on the ability to love and create a family. “These are personal traits that need to be acquired and nurtured. The Church takes exceptional care of the preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage. Such preparation for marriage to strengthen families based on love is vital.”

“No priest has the right to marry a man and a woman without helping them to understand all the tasks, challenges, and at the same time, opportunities that a Christian family has to be prosperous,” emphasized the Head of the Church and talked about the relevant church programs of preparation for married life, where the priest and other specialists help the beloved to mature in their decision.
