“Tell me how does your prayer sound, and I will tell you what kind of Christian you are,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav

Prayer is a constant indicator of our spiritual life. It is not a ritual but a space in which we live. The Holy Fathers often called prayer the breath of the soul. To determine whether a person is still alive, a doctor checks the heartbeat and breathing. Similarly, we may say: tell me how your prayer sounds, and I will tell you what kind of Christian you are.

“Tell me how does your prayer sound, and I will tell you what kind of Christian you are,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav

His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

During the conversation, he recalled the story of a woman who lost her home in Borodianka as a result of the war. “She felt that God had disappeared from her horizons. For her, it was a crisis of faith,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

According to the Head of the UGCC, a new word has entered our vocabulary today—resilience. This term, from the field of physics, means the ability of solids to restore their shape after deformation. “We need to restore our strength today,” he said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that “while going through rough times, we begin to run a spiritual marathon. When we run, our body requires more breathing. Similarly, when we face dramatic circumstances, we need more time for prayer. How much exactly—everyone should decide for themselves. The main thing is not to lose this prayer,” explained the Head of the UGCC.
