I express my deep gratitude to all the warriors of perpetual prayer: Head of the UGCC in the 73 rd week of war

We are living through a time of special spiritual feat of Ukraine. The 500th day of the great tragedy is almost behind us. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, said this on the 73 rd week of the full-scale war that Russia brought to our peaceful land.

I express my deep gratitude to all the warriors of perpetual prayer: Head of the UGCC in the 73 rd week of war

The Primate noted that our towns and villages, even those far from the front line, are suffering again. This week, the Ukrainian soul flinched as it saw the terrible consequences of Russian shelling in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Recently, the city of Lviv has been targeted by an enemy attack.

At the same time, the Head of the Church noted we are experiencing a remarkable spiritual feat in Ukraine. The 500th day of the great tragedy is passing.

These days mark another painful anniversary — the 80th anniversary of the tragedy in Volyn. The circumstances of brutal confrontation between Poles and Ukrainians in this part of the Ukrainian land still hurt both wounded Polish families and Ukrainians.

“We experienced a special moment of joint prayer of unity and reconciliation in Warsaw, Poland, and Lutsk, Ukraine, asking the Lord to heal the wounds of the past that hurt both Ukrainians and Poles. Indeed, war leaves deep wounds in the souls and consciences of entire nations for decades or even centuries.”

According to him, reconciliation does not mean signing a declaration or an agreement because it is not about reconciling thoughts or ideas but hearts. That is what it means to heal wounds.
