His Beatitude Sviatoslav’s New Year’s Greeting: This year will be abundant with God’s presence
The Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, congratulated the faithful on the New Year 2024.
“In his video greetings, he noted that 2023 was a challenging and painful year marked by war, yet culminating in the celebration of one of the most significant holidays: the Nativity of the Lord. As we contemplate the divine light and peace bestowed upon us through the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we feel that our pains, sufferings, and wounds are not empty or meaningless. Instead, they are infused with God’s love and power, capable of healing, restoring, and transforming both heaven and earth, as well as humanity and the world.”
The Head of the Church emphasized that our future is the Lord Jesus Christ, so there is no fear as we enter the New Year. “We see that this year will be full of God’s presence among us, His power,” he said.
“Allow me to congratulate each of you as we step into the New Year. May God’s blessings illuminate your paths. Our special prayers go out to the Ukrainian army and our compatriots at the frontlines, both at home and around the world affected by the ongoing war. May we, as a nation, move towards victory, unified with those in Ukraine and those dispersed globally due to the ravages of war. Let’s pray to God for a new year filled with blessings, light, and triumph for Ukraine. Wishing the Ukrainian people a Happy New Year!” said the patriarch.
