His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, congratulated Ukrainian mothers on Mother’s Day. The Primate thanked them for the gift of life, their self-sacrifice, and the power of love in times of war, emphasizing that this day is now not merely a day of gratitude for life, but a symbol of victory over destruction.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav: “Mother’s Day Is a Day Won Back From Death”

“Today we especially honor those mothers who, at the cost of their own lives, protect their children and fight for their future; mothers who, like brave warriors, are defending Ukraine on the front lines today; mothers who, together with their children, stand before God in prayer and implore Him for a future for Ukraine,” the Patriarch emphasized.

The Primate called Mother’s Day in the context of war “a day won back from death”: “A mother who gives life overcomes death through the power of the risen Christ. Mom, thank you for life! Our Mother Ukraine, we thank you for allowing us to live on this blessed land. God, bless Mother Ukraine. Most Holy Mother of God, Mother of our Savior, bless the mothers and children of Ukraine.”
