This year marks the 10th anniversary of the consecration of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv, which took place on August 18, 2013. On this occasion, the Head of the Church invites every eparchy and exarchate of the UGCC in Ukraine and worldwide to pilgrimage to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ during the year.

“The Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv is God’s gift to our Church,” the Head of the Church said.

On August 18 this year, the central and largest church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church celebrates its first 10th anniversary. His Beatitude Sviatoslav reminded us that every year on this day, our Church liturgically commemorates the cathedral’s consecration and calls on the priests to perform services per the rite of the holiday properly. He also noted that after the UGCC switched to a new style for fixed holidays on September 1 this year, and the feast of the liturgical commemoration of the cathedral’s consecration remains on August 18.

“Today, the Patriarchal Cathedral is indeed the heart of our Church, with the pulsation of which our multimillion-strong community in Ukraine and worldwide synchronizes its life. And we do want to celebrate this tenth anniversary nicely. To celebrate means to thank God properly, and thus our benefactors, donors, who gave our people and the Church this parental home,” the Primate emphasized.

On this occasion, the Head of the Church invites every diocese and exarchate in Ukraine and the world to make a pilgrimage to the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv during the year.
On May 7, 2023, the Diocese of Sokal and Zhovkva of the UGCC made such a festive pilgrimage. In particular, the valid bishop, Mykhailo Koltun, came with his clergy and pilgrims. Children from vaThe UGCC Department for Informationrious artistic societies, organizations, schools, and clubs of the diocese also visited the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. A unique and colorful festival of haivky took place on the territory of the cathedral.
