“This year marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of the then-Ruthenian Seminary in Rome. Pope Leo XIII wanted our Church and our people to have their seminary here. It was looking for its permanent nest, and our Galician bishops helped her build a nest on the Janiculum Hill,” said the Head of the Church during the sermon at the Liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican on November 12, 2022.

The Primate expressed gratitude to the rector of the collegium, Father Louis Kasyan, on behalf of the entire Church.

“We thank God together for those 125 years of study here in Rome. How many saints, martyrs, confessors, great leaders of our Church have become alumni of this seminary,” said the Primate.
