Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, personally and on behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, congratulated Archbishop and Metropolitan of Philadelphia Borys Gudziak on the 10th anniversary of his episcopal ordination.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav congratulated Metropolitan Borus Gudziak on the 10th anniversary of his episcopal consecration

“Exactly ten years ago, in St. George Cathedral in Lviv, with the Metropolitan of Lviv Ihor Vozniak and Apostolic Exarch in Great Britain, Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, we granted you episcopal ordination”.

“The time of your service for the faithful of our Church in France is marked by many achievements for the glory of God and the development and formation of our Church in this field. Therefore, on June 2, 2019, in the city of Philadelphia, we solemnly proclaimed and enthroned you as the Metropolitan of our Philadelphia Metropolis in the United States of America. From then until today, you have served our faithful from ‘heart to heart,’ who were scattered across the vast regions of the USA. For the priests and laity of our Church, you have become a real spiritual father who cares for them and makes every effort so that God’s word spreads and bears a hundredfold fruit,” the congratulatory letter reads.

“We highly appreciate your concern for the Ukrainian Catholic University, of which you are still the president. Your work and your contribution are difficult to evaluate, they are priceless. We also express our gratitude to you for your many years of participation in the Permanent Synod of various members, which shows the great trust in you on the part of our authorities,” the Head of the Church emphasizes.

Separately, the patriarchal letter notes the active service of Metropolitan Borys for the needs of the Patriarchal Curia. For this reason, the Department of External Relations, which the bishop heads, is a fine tool for representing our Church outside the Mother Church in Ukraine.

“Continue to be for our people and all the people among whom you live a clear lamp of God’s truth and a good shepherd of Christ’s flock. We pray for God’s abundant blessing for you,” Patriarch Sviatoslav writes.
