Great Lent online retreats “Beloved by God” held in the Melbourne Eparchy
On 17, 19 and 21 March, the faithful of the Melbourne Eparchy had the opportunity to participate in Great Lent online retreats on the theme “Beloved by God”. Participants from various parishes of the Melbourne Eparchy across Australia joined the spiritual gatherings.
The retreat reflections, delivered by Fr. Oleh Barbuliak of the Eparchy of Stryi (UGCC), focused on the theme of God’s boundless love, sin, and repentance. The retreat leader emphasised the importance of the Sacrament of Confession and Holy Communion in the life of every Christian. Particular attention was given to the meaning of spiritual conversion, purification of the heart, and the renewal of a living relationship with God during the Great Lent.
The sessions were conducted in a bilingual format—in Ukrainian and English—via the Zoom platform, which made it possible for all who wished to participate, regardless of language or generation.
The retreats became a valuable opportunity for both the faithful and clergy to pause amid the busyness of daily life, open their hearts to prayer, silence, and the Word of God, and once again hear the essential truth that each of us is beloved by God.
