First Celebration of First Confession and Solemn Holy Communion Held in Finland’s UGCC Community
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic community in Helsinki celebrated its first First Confession and Solemn First Holy Communion for children who had completed their studies at the Blessed Edigna Catechetical School.
This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Finland.
The Blessed Edigna School began its activities on October 12, 2025, with the blessing of Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh, Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and the Scandinavian countries. Its first students were children from Ukrainian families in various cities across Finland, who spent the school year preparing to receive the Holy Sacraments.
During the Divine Liturgy, the children prayed together with their parents, godparents, and relatives.
Addressing the children, the community’s pastor, Fr. Andriy Khomen, wished them to walk the path of holiness and always keep the living presence of God in their hearts.
