Father of UGCC Kyiv Archeparchy Priest Dies in the War
On November 13, 2023, it was reported that Soldier Vyacheslav Kotenko, a valiant defender of Ukraine and father of Fr. Ihor Kotenko, a priest of the Kyiv Archeparchy of the UGCC, had died in the war, as it was reported by the archdiocese’s press service.
Bishop Yosyf Milian, Auxiliary Bishop of the Kyiv Archeparchy, expressed condolences over the death of the soldier: “Great pain and sorrow fill our hearts. Ukraine is losing its best sons in this unjust war, and today it is mourning another Hero who valiantly and faithfully guarded our peace and heroically brought our nation closer to victory every day.”
The entire community of clergy and faithful of the UGCC expresses condolences to the family and bows its head before the fallen Hero.
Funeral services will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Drohobych.
