This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Exarchate.

On December 17, 2024, Russian forces carried out massive shelling of the village using guided aerial bombs, Shaheds, and missiles. Around 10:00 PM, one of the rockets struck the ground near the chapel, leaving a 15-meter-long crater. The chapel’s roof was damaged, and its windows and doors were shattered. Outbuildings, a gas pipeline, and power lines were also destroyed.

Zolochiv, located near the border with the aggressor country, is under constant shelling. “Since the start of the full-scale invasion, this is the fourth time our chapel has been shelled, but this time it suffered very heavy damage,” said Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets, Exarch of Kharkiv of the UGCC.

Despite the difficult circumstances, parishioners gathered the following day to pray near the chapel and organized a clean-up to address the aftermath of the shelling.
