Archeparchy of Lviv opens the Jubilee Year of the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Josaphat
On April 9, 2023, the opening of the Jubilee Year of the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Holy Martyr Josaphat, ‘Apostle of Unity’, was held at the Myroslav Skoryk Lviv National Philharmonic.
Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv Ihor Vozniak greeted the audience at the ceremony, noting: “St. Josaphat was a man who overcame the fear of death. This is an example of holiness. The Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Martyr Josaphat has received a decree from the Apostolic Penitentiary granting a plenary indulgence to the faithful who visit the monastery chapel anytime during the year. The Lviv Archeparchy has been allotted one day during which the faithful may visit the monastery chapel. We will inform you of the date for this event as soon as it is determined. We need to venerate our saint. For this purpose, a working group has been assembled to develop a plan of events that will take place in our archdiocese.”
The event attendees listened to musical pieces that revealed the essence of the suffering of Jesus Christ and His Holy Mother.
The project’s author is Mykhailo Perun, a scientist, and researcher, co-founder of the Andrey Charitable Foundation.
