A crying woman portrays Ukraine during the war, — His Beatitude Sviatoslav

When someone says the word “war,” I see a woman in tears; a woman-mother who sees off her son or daughter to the front, not knowing if she ever sees them again; a mother in tears who has lost her son; a mother in tears who with her child has to flee her home because her house was destroyed before her eyes; a tearful woman who today is storming Europe and other countries of the world to take care of a temporary shelter for herself and her child while a father is fighting at the front.

A crying woman portrays Ukraine during the war, — His Beatitude Sviatoslav

His Beatitude Sviatoslav expressed this opinion during Vespers in the Cathedral of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called on October 15 within the framework of his pastoral visit to Odessa.

The Archbishop emphasized that the Church should give people hope in times of war. “We, the Church as a community of believers have a word of hope. We have something that no one can give Ukrainians today. And the power of the word of hope that we have to give to Ukraine today is the word of hope of Christ’s Gospel because the Gospel, as the Apostle Paul says, is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Therefore, it is from a believing person that strength comes, the source of which is the Lord God,” said the Head of the UGCC.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that looking into the face of our Church in the west of Ukraine, the center of Ukraine, the Kharkiv region, the Cherkasy region, the Sumy and the Odesa regions — he sees a Mother who embraces her children. A Mother who warms and saves, in whose arms a child ceases to be afraid.

“Blessed are the people with such a loving Mother Church, which will not condemn, will not punish, but will understand, forgive, accept, and warm up,” added the Head of the UGCC.
