We implore the whole world to stop Russian nuclear blackmail: Head of the UGCC in the 71 st week of war
This catastrophe will reach far beyond Zaporizhzhia, the Kherson region, or Ukraine — radiation knows no borders. May the hand of the killer not rise to destroy man and the God-created world in this way! His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, said this in a video message on the 71 st week of the full-scale war brought by the Russian aggressor to Ukrainian lands.

The Primate noted that peaceful towns and villages across Ukraine are shuddering again under Russian missiles and drones. Fierce combat is taking place along the entire front line.
“However, today, we once again want to thank the Lord God and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for being alive and able to serve our Creator and the long-suffering Ukrainian people. And once again, we want to say: Ukraine stands! Ukraine is fighting! Ukraine is praying!” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
According to him, one of the news that alarmed Ukraine and the world was the statement of our President regarding the mining of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by the Russian occupiers.
“Compared to the disaster,” the Head of the UGCC emphasized, “that the Russians caused at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, we see a lot of similarities and all the signs that another crime is being plotted, about which a year ago one of the Russian generals said: ‘Either this land will be Russian, or we will turn it into a nuclear desert.’”
The spiritual leader called: “We implore the whole world to do everything to stop the nuclear blackmail, to stop the crimes that the Russians are planning to commit on our long-suffering Ukrainian land.”
His Beatitude Sviatoslav urged us to remind ourselves and the world of the cause of the war to be able to talk about a just peace as a cure for this crime.

“We observe that due to the impact of Russian propaganda, many people confuse these things. Some people say that someone from outside provoked Russia, whether through geopolitical movements or military alliances. The reason lies in Russia itself — it is turning into a totalitarian state of the Stalinist type,” the Head of the Church emphasizes.
And any alternative, in his opinion, whether at the social level, such as a free democratic Ukraine, or at the cultural level, such as the Ukrainian people as a distinctive ethnic group, or the existence of a free democratic world, or even other types of the presence of world Orthodoxy, is interpreted by this type of totalitarian structure as a threat.
“An intrinsic disease, the disease of communism, Stalinism, which is turning into the ideology of the Russkiy mir, is driving Russia to control the whole world from the inside. And this was the reason, and everything else is just a consequence,” the Head of the Church emphasized.
