The Ukrainian government, in response. to public demand, has to protect the country’s religious environment from attacks by Russian propaganda and a new type of religious weapon. This was stated by the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on the 132 nd week of the great brutal war, called a hybrid war by the whole world.

Verkhovna Rada Passes Law to Safeguard Religious Freedom from Russian Influence: UGCC Head on Week 132 of the War

The Primate noted that the Russian aggressor weaponizes everything it touches including the economy and the journalistic word, which transforms into propaganda. He blackmails the world by seizing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, causing environmental disasters in Ukraine. He seeks to use even holy things as a weapon.

The Head of the Church noted: “The ideology of the ‘Russian world’ discredits the Christian message in the eyes and conscience of the modern man.”

His Beatitude Sviatoslav pointed out: “This week we have witnessed that the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law aimed at protecting freedom of religion in Ukraine from this type of manipulation by the aggressor state.”

“During the war, we must do everything possible to prevent the aggressor from violating religious peace and harmony between the churches in Ukraine. Today we want the whole world to hear the voice of the Ukrainian religious environment, which stands guard over religious freedom, rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens. We wish the world to understand that the Ukrainian independent state is synonymous with such freedom, so that the world can hear that Ukraine stands, Ukraine fights, Ukraine prays!” His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized.

This week, the Primate noted, we celebrated two special days, special holidays of the Ukrainian people: Ukrainian Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine. “Independence Day is not only a national holiday. It is a personal holiday of every Ukrainian who is now sacrificing himself in the name of freedom and independence of the Motherland. This holiday is synonymous with our belief in our future, in our future generations inheriting a free, independent country and homeland from us.”

“We remember in prayer the generations of Ukrainians who fought for this statehood. We pray for our men and women on the frontline who are defending this freedom at the cost of their lives. We pray for God’s blessing for Ukraine, its state, authorities, army and people,” said the Primate.
