On January 24, the Ukrainian community in Iceland united in the Cathedral of the King Christ in Reykjavik to pray for Christian unity. Together with various Christian communities, they prayed with texts prepared by Christians from Burkina Faso: “You shall love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27), reports the community of Ukrainians in Iceland.

Ukrainians in Iceland Pray for Christian Unity

The opening prayers called for an end to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as for the protection of persecuted Christians worldwide. Additionally, a well-known prayer of Eastern Christians, “Heavenly King,” was read in Icelandic.

“We will persist in calling on the Holy Spirit to grant us a heart of unity and peace, allowing Christians to bear witness to the Gospel of Christ with mutual love to the world,” said Fr. Mykhailo Ivaniak, CSsR.
