UGCC Head in Week 157: Ukraine Gains Global Support by Proving Russia Can Be Defeated
Ukraine received substantial aid from all over the world to confront the aggressor — not out of the West’s fear of Russia, but because Ukrainians demonstrated that the Russian aggressor can and must be stopped. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, stated this in his weekly video address on Week 157 of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Primate noted that on the night of February 12, Ukraine once again endured a massive missile attack on its cities and villages, including Kyiv. Residential buildings burned and human blood was shed. A Russian attack drone damaged the sarcophagus of the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant…
“Thanks to our men and women at the front, who are bravely holding combat positions near Pokrovsk, and Kupyansk, in the North and South of the Motherland, we are alive and can once again declare: Ukraine stands! Ukraine fights! Ukraine prays!” the Head of the Church emphasized.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav highlighted that last week, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared February 24 the National Day of Prayer, to be observed annually on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. “On this day, we will commemorate our Heroes, pray for our brothers and sisters in the occupied territories, the Ukrainian army, and pray for the unity of our people, since it is the power of state-building,” said the spiritual leader of Ukrainians.
The Primate stressed the importance of unity for Ukraine’s future and urged politicians, military leaders, public figures, and religious leaders to uphold it.
