UGCC Head in the 190th Week of War: The Fatima Revelations Warned: Errors Coming Out of Russia Could Poison the Entire World
We came to Fatima to offer our gratitude to the Blessed Virgin Mary for her intercession in the war in Ukraine and for stopping the Russian army on the outskirts of Kyiv. This was stated by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in his traditional video address during the 190th week of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine — a war that continued to claim the lives of children and wreak havoc on cities and villages throughout the week.

The Head of the Church noted that over the past week, the enemy deliberately targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including nuclear power plants. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which protects Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus from the consequences of the disaster, was attacked. For more than ten days, beginning on September 24, the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been without power. The Russian authorities continue to threaten Ukraine with nuclear terrorism, hinting that attacks on such dangerous facilities could become systematic.
However, according to him, this week also brought a joyous event: 205 of our defenders were released from Russian captivity — 185 military personnel and 20 civilians. “We rejoice that those who spent many long months in torture chambers have finally returned home.”
At the same time, a special spiritual event was held this Sunday in Fatima, the site of the Marian apparitions in Portugal, where Ukrainians from Western Europe gathered for a joint pilgrimage and prayer.
“Together with our clergy,” said the spiritual leader of Ukrainians while in Fatima, “and the faithful, we stood in the place where the Theotokos revealed God’s plan for Ukraine, which includes a special role for our people. It is Ukrainians — a long-suffering nation — who have received from God the strength to stop Russia’s murderous hand. We prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary with one heart and one voice that the Lord would end the war in Ukraine and bless the children with His peace. We are especially grateful for March 26, 2022, when, after Pope Francis renewed the consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the occupying forces began to retreat, and Ukraine began to liberate its territories. We believe that the ‘miracle over the Dnipro’ was not a one-time event, for God’s promises to His people are irrevocable.”

Video Message of the Head of the UGCC on the 190th Week of the Full-Scale War, October 5, 2025
His Beatitude Sviatoslav implored the Blessed Virgin Mary to remain with us, to support Ukrainians, to inspire our hearts, and to bestow resilience and strength through the grace of the Holy Spirit in the struggle against evil. “The Fatima revelations warned that the errors that would come from Russia could poison the whole world. During World War I, these words were understood as a warning about the danger of Soviet communism — the ‘red dragon’ that threatened humanity. But this ‘red dragon’ has not vanished; it has merely changed its face and continues to kill not only in Ukraine but throughout the world. Therefore, the Blessed Virgin Mary calls upon her children to pray for peace.”
