On December 26–30, the XV General Congress of the Institute of Catechists of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is taking place in Prudentopolis (Brazil), during which, after reflecting on consecrated life, charism, spirituality, and formation, the members of the Institute will elect a new General Board for the next five years and outline directions for further service in the Church. On this occasion, the Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, sent a congratulatory letter to the Director General of the Institute, Ms. Nadir Vozivoda.

In the letter, the Head of the UGCC primarily expressed his gratitude to the catechists for their longstanding work.

“Your meetings are also an opportunity to thank God for the chance to serve. I wish that the decisions you make regarding the further development and apostolate of the Institute of Catechists of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will contribute to the well-being of the Church and the glory of God,” wished the Head of the UGCC.

“It is your community, which was created in 1940 by Fr. Christopher Myskiw as a means to help the Ukrainian community, that has been advocating for Christian values, the Ukrainian language, and culture for almost a century. By making considerable efforts in the educational, social, and ecumenical spheres, you have gained respect and recognition,” the Patriarch emphasized.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav assured that he prays for the help of the Holy Spirit so that the members of the Institute will choose worthy leaders, “who will lead our faithful and all people of good will to Jesus Christ, the way, the truth and the life, with their own Christian stance.”

The Head of the UGCC also asked that at a time when Ukrainians are in great danger of assimilation, the catechists become an example of healthy integration for them, constantly maintaining contact with the Mother Church in Ukraine, which is going through a tragic period due to the all-out invasion of the murderous enemy. ‘I ask you to keep us all in your prayers so that the Lord may grant us a just peace and an end to this terrible war,’ the Primate called.
