To Bring at Least One Person to Baptism: His Beatitude Sviatoslav Assigns a Personal Missionary Task to the Faithful

“Today, I invite everyone who believes in God to speak to others about the God you profess,” emphasized the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church during his sermon on the Feast of the Ascension.

He encouraged the faithful to make a concrete commitment: “Let us make this resolution today: that each of us, as believing Christians, will bring at least one person to the Sacrament of Baptism this year. Knock on the doors of your neighbors, relatives, and loved ones; ask them if they are baptized, if they have found the God who wants to draw them close to Himself.”

“Once you do this, you will feel the joy of the apostles filling your heart,” assured the Head of the Church.

To mark the beginning of the Missionary Decade, which lasts until Pentecost, His Beatitude Sviatoslav reminded the faithful of Christ’s Gospel commission to the apostles: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

The Primate also called for prayers during this Decade “for all those who preach the Gospel of Christ to frightened and anxious people searching for God in today’s world,” and “for those who have not yet encountered the living God in their lives—our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
