Prayer Service Marks the 92nd Birth Anniversary of Patriarch Lubomyr Husar at the Patriarchal Cathedral
On February 26, 2025, the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ hosted a memorial service for Patriarch Lubomyr Husar on the 92nd anniversary of his birth. Bishop Yosyf Milan led the prayer in the cathedral’s crypt.

The press service of the Kyiv Archeparchy reported on the event.
In his remarks, Bishop Yosyf Milan reflected on Patriarch Lubomyr’s words about perseverance in difficult times:
“Do your job well, regardless of who is in power or what challenges arise. Do your job not just for yourself, but together with others and for everyone. Unity is strength. It allows us to withstand any encroachment—whether from those who seek to seize a piece of our land or those who try to deceive us.”
He continued: “A great man was, and remains, among us. It seems that today’s prayer, described as a ‘silent prayer,’ aligns with his spirit. He never sought grand gestures or attention for himself. It is as if his spirit desired this quiet remembrance on what would have been his 92 nd birthday. I emphasize ‘life’ because there is life beyond death, in another dimension.”
Bishop Yosyf then posed a question: “What would Lubomyr say in today’s situation? I am convinced he would be calm. He would remain balanced, making no sudden moves. Surely, he would support his people with dignified and wise words. And so, I thank You, all-merciful God, that he was with us, that he remains with us in our cherished memory and in his worthy words.”
Following the service, attendees watched excerpts from the patriarch’s interviews and listened to his favorite song, “My Father, White Swan.”
