On November 15, the monks of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat, chaired by Archimandrite Fr. Robert Lyseyko, met with Pope Francis after the Wednesday audience, thus completing the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the saint’s martyrdom. The meeting was attended by fathers and brothers serving in Rome, as well as those who traveled from different parts of the world on pilgrimage to mark the Jubilee Year, as it was reported by Vatican News.

During the general audience, Pope Francis concluded his meeting with the pilgrims with a call to prayer for those parts of the world suffering from war, not forgetting Ukraine and solidarity with refugees.

“Let’s pray together, brothers and sisters, for peace, especially for Ukraine, which is enduring so much. And let’s not forget the Holy Land, pray for the peace of Palestine and Israel, and remember Sudan, too. There are many conflicts in the world today, and it’s essential that we take a moment every day to pray for peace. We all long for peace,” was the call of Pope Francis.

Greeting the Polish pilgrims, the Pope reminded them that the proclamation of the Gospel must be accompanied by concrete works of mercy. He urged everyone to join in prayer for the poor and refugees from war-torn Ukraine. With heartfelt blessings, he expressed gratitude to those providing assistance.
