“Together with the UCU community, we gathered to perform funeral services for our neighbors. They were certainly hoping for the end of this war, sleeping soundly in peaceful Lviv. That night the war was over for them. They will no longer have any struggle here on earth, but the war continues in the faces of their families, friends, and acquaintances because it has deepened the wound of war even more. While praying for the repose of the souls of Iryna and Olha, we also ask for the healing of wounds for those who still live on earth,” the bishop said in his spiritual word.

Fr. Nazariy Mysiakovsky, Deputy First Vice-Rector for Pastoral Affairs and Student Life of UCU read out the biographies of the victims.

Olha Dutka was a 65-year-old Lviv resident who worked as a controller at Lvivoblenergo in peacetime. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Her friends often asked her for advice. She was a representative of the Association of Apartment Building Co-Owners in her building and had excellent organizational skills, the Lviv City Council reported. At the time of her death, the woman had a daughter and a grandson.

Iryna Milovanova was 62 years old. She was a widow of a combatant in the 2015–2016 war who defended the country in the 81 st separate airmobile brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Olha Dutka was buried at the Yaniv cemetery and Iryna Milovanova — at the Holoskiv cemetery.
