“Today is a day of mourning in Kyiv. This biggest strike from the sky, which Ukraine received on December 29, has already resulted in the deaths of 29 innocent brothers and sisters in the capital alone. And today, after the Liturgy, we will serve a Panakhyda, a funeral prayer for them, for all the victims of this war on Ukrainian soil,” said the Primate during his sermon. Then, at the end of the Liturgy, he led a prayer for the dead.

On December 29, Russia carried out its most massive air strike against Ukraine. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities were hit. To date, 29 people have been killed in the capital. It is the largest number of casualties in Kyiv from a single attack since the beginning of the all-out invasion.
