First Ukrainian UGCC School Opens in Spain’s Castellón Province
On September 27, the newly established Ukrainian school of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Spain’s Castellón Province welcomed its first students with the ringing of the first school bell. This is the first Ukrainian educational facility in the region, where 55 children from grades 1 to 9 are currently studying.

This was reported by the Pastoral Migration Department of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The celebration began with a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, led by Fr. Yuriy Shabanov, priest for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Spain. He blessed the children and teachers at the start of the new school year.
School director Mariana Demkiv thanked the parents for their trust and support and emphasized that the opening of the Ukrainian school will help children currently living in the province of Castellón to preserve their identity and obtain a Ukrainian education.
After the celebration, the students took their seats and began classes.
