Exarch of Odesa Meets with U.S. Senators

On February 19, a delegation of four influential U.S. senators — Jeanne Shaheen, Richard Blumenthal, Sheldon Whitehouse, and Chris Coons — along with U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine Julie Davis, met for the first time in Odesa with local authorities and representatives of religious organizations. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was represented at the meeting by Bishop Mykhailo Bubniy, Exarch of Odesa.

According to the organizers, the meeting was facilitated by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna. The event took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, marked by cordial dialogue despite power outages and the absence of heating.

The organizers also noted that the delegation was able to witness firsthand the conditions in which the city is living, which will help them form an objective understanding of the current situation.
