On the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, April 16, the Ukrainian community of the Blessed Martyr Mykola Charnetsky in Dublin (Ireland) gathered in large numbers for a solemn service in one of the largest churches in the capital of Ireland — Our Lady of Consolation.

“Christ is risen” from peaceful Irish land to suffering Ukraine: Ukrainians in Ireland celebrate Easter

The Easter Divine Liturgy, celebrated by the priest for Ukrainians in Dublin, Fr. Vasyl Kornitsky, began at 6:00 AM. At that time, Ukrainians, among them many newly arrived refugees from Ukraine, filled the church.

Irish Roman Catholic priests also took part in the service.

After the Liturgy, the paschal food was blessed.

Congratulating everyone on the Resurrection of the Lord, Fr. Vasyl Kornitsky noted that “today, while singing the majestic Victory Song here on the peaceful Irish land, we ask God to let our ‘Christ is risen’ fly from this church to our suffering Ukrainian land. How beautiful it is when this ‘Christ is risen’ is sung by so many of us now in this church, which has become a home and a place where we, as one family united in prayer every Sunday, grieve together, cry, share our sadness, pain, and ask for peace from God, who hears the groans and feels the depth of every human heart.”

It is worth noting that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Ireland has sheltered more than 80,000 Ukrainians who were forced to flee the war. For many of them, the UGCC in Ireland has become a home island, a place of meeting with each other and God.
