Book of Interviews with His Beatitude Sviatoslav, now available in Spanish
“At the Foot of the Cross. Lessons from Ukraine” is the title of a book of interviews with His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the head of the UGCC, by John Burger. It was first published in English in the United States, recently translated into Spanish, and issued by “Idioma. Castellano”.
American writer and journalist John Burger holds a dialogue with His Beatitude Sviatoslav about the development of the UGCC after coming out of the underground and pastoral ministry in the context of a full-scale war in Ukraine. In times of trial and repression, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church remained faithful at the foot of the cross.
Its current Head, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, grew up in Ukraine at a time when his Church was illegal. In the conversation, he reflects on the direction in which the modern world is moving and the role of the Church in these processes. Considerable attention is paid to the war in Ukraine, explaining its causes and ideological basis.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav’s interviewer is the editor of Aleteia and has worked for the National Catholic Register, Catholic New York, and many other American Catholic publications for over 25 years.
