Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Entered in the Golden Book of the City of Büren, Germany
On August 14, in the city of Büren, Germany, a solemn ceremony was held to inscribe the name of Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh, Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and Scandinavia, in the Golden Book of the city. This honorary distinction is a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and a recognition of the bishop’s peacemaking, spiritual, and humanitarian service.

The event was reported by the press service of the Apostolic Exarchate in Germany and Scandinavia.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Burkhard Schwuchow and the pastor of St. Nicholas Parish, Pfarrer Christoph Severin. “This is an expression of our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and recognition of your important mission in the service of peace,” the mayor said in his welcome address.
Bishop Bohdan, accepting the honor, emphasized that he regarded it as a sign of respect and support for the entire Ukrainian people. “I hope that this event will go down in the history of Büren as a sign of gratitude and recognition from the Ukrainian people and the Church,” the bishop stated.
The inclusion of Bishop Bohdan’s name in the Golden Book was part of his visit to Büren, as the day before he had presided at the Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church, where a national copy of the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Fatima, consecrated by Pope Paul VI, is preserved. After the service, the bishop met with the mayor, expressed his gratitude to the community for its support of Ukraine, and presented a commemorative medal marking the 65th anniversary of the Apostolic Exarchate. This honor is a tribute to his service and a symbol of the friendly ties between Büren and Ukrainians.
