Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh Visits Faithful in Iceland
On April 7, Bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh, Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and Scandinavia, presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Maríukirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The children and parishioners welcomed the bishop to Iceland and presented him with Ukrainian paska, Icelandic traditional bread, and a flatbread. The weather greeted the honored guest with a strong wind, so the bishop also received a woolen scarf and a heart knitted by Ukrainian women temporarily sheltering from the war in that country.
In his sermon, the bishop called on people to believe in the Resurrection: “Our faith originates, grows, matures, and manifests itself in community. Together, the community can endure any trials and eventually receive the peace of the risen Christ, His joy and love. Witness to Ukraine here on this distant island. Pray for the soldiers and believe in victory,” the preacher addressed the Ukrainians gathered in the church.
“God always has the final word. I wish us all, following the example of Christ’s first disciples, to grow in unity and love, so that we may become ever more carriers of God’s peace, joy and hope. And may our risen Savior continue to be among us, guide us and bless us! Amen,” the Apostolic Exarch wished.
Bishop Bohdan also congratulated Father Mykhailo, who provides spiritual care for Ukrainians in Iceland, on his 18th anniversary of priesthood, and presented him with a carved cross from his native lands of Prykarpattia.
The prayer was followed by a festive Easter meal and warm communication with the bishop.
