Benefactors from the Papal Foundation visit the UGCC parish in Munich

On February 26, in the Cathedral Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God in Munich, the Ukrainian community welcomed benefactors from the Papal Foundation Aid to the Church in Need and thanked them for their help to Ukrainians affected by the war.

Most Reverend Bohdan Dziurakh, Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians of the Byzantine rite in Germany and Scandinavia, delivered an address entitled “The Year of Good Friday,” in which the bishop, speaking of the genocide of the Ukrainian people committed by the Russian occupiers, thanks all those who stand in solidarity and support the people of Ukraine so that in this struggle against the forces of evil, hope in the hearts of Ukrainians do not fade.

“Only in unity, perseverance, and endurance in doing good we can, with God’s help, restore the peaceful order brutally defiled by the aggressor and a safe and hopeful future for the present and future generations of Europe,” Bishop Bohdan emphasized in his message.

On this day, representatives of the Apostolic Exarchate also presented projects supporting Ukrainians affected by the war.

The benefactors were presented with the funded support for the following projects: “Good Samaritan” points of invincibility in Ukraine, accommodation of internally displaced persons in the pastoral and spiritual centers of the Ternopil-Zboriv Archeparchy and the Sambir-Drohobych Archeparchy, food packages for war victims implemented by the Patriarchal Foundation “Wise Cause” and the Stryi Eparchy, support for Ukrainians who fled the war to Poland and found refuge in Ukrainian parishes, financial support for priests of the Kyiv Archeparchy and the Odesa Exarchate, recreational camps for children from Luhansk and widows with children from Kharkiv, and the patronage for widows of Azov soldiers.

Fr. Volodymyr, the parish administrator, also spoke about the Ukrainian parish community’s participation in aiding Ukraine, the charitable organization Munich Helps Ukraine, and the projects it has implemented. Mr. Taras Berezhansky presented the humanitarian activities of the Volunteer Hundred of Munich.
