This was reported by the press service of the UGCC Department of Military Chaplaincy.

The camp program included numerous artistic workshops (drawing on T-shirts and shell casings, soap making, weaving, acting, basics of tourism, etc.), daily prayer services, spiritual talks, science, sports games, quests, competitions, contests, movie screenings, recitals, and hiking. The highlight of the camp was a trip to Mount Makivka, where the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen Memorial Cemetery is located. After a joint prayer for all the fallen Heroes of Ukraine, the children participated in a patriotic quest.

According to the camp’s commandant, Fr. Rostyslav Vysochan, the goal of the ArtArea camp is primarily to rest and rehabilitate young people through various workshops, contests, and sports competitions. The presence of a confessor and daily liturgy contribute to the spiritual development of the young participants, helping them better understand themselves and their vocation. Group activities aim to foster leadership and responsibility, creating an atmosphere of team spirit.

“Serving for a common victory involves raising values-driven young people who confidently follow a predetermined course. A special time, special circumstances, children with special experiences… I am grateful to God and everyone involved in this great endeavor! Educating young people in a time of war is a contribution to the future after the victory!” said Fr. Rostyslav.

“I am grateful to the organizers for your wonderful work,” writes the mother of one of the participants of the ArtArea-2024 camp. “My daughter is thrilled with the trip and such a bright and joyful ‘mini-life’ that you have created for her these days! A lot of emotions, a lot of positive impressions! Once more, I am very grateful, because when the child is happy, we, the parents, feel warm and calm. Glory to Ukraine!”

The organizers were assisted by animators from the School of Christian Camp Leaders, who had been preparing for the summer camp for a year. The spiritual support of the campers was provided by Fr. Rostyslav Vysochan, chief specialist of the Department for Interaction with Religious Organizations of the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
