Annual Charity Campaign “Andriyiv Hrish” to be Held in All UGCC Churches on November 30
On Saturday, November 30, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church celebrates the feast of St. Andrew the First-Called. On this day, UGCC churches worldwide traditionally offer prayers for the Head of the Church and conduct a charity collection called Andriyiv Hrish.
The purpose of this campaign is to enable the Andriyiv Hrish Foundation to effectively assist His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC, and to respond effectively to the exigencies of those in need.
“In the midst of this terrible war and the immense suffering endured by the Ukrainian people in their homeland, the Andriyiv Hrish collection demonstrates its effectiveness, allowing us to provide targeted help rapidly,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
The Patriarch expressed gratitude to all the faithful of the UGCC in Ukraine and abroad for their prayers and generous contributions last year, which helped save lives and heal the wounds of many Ukrainians: “I am deeply thankful to everyone who supports our Church-wide solidarity on the feast of St. Andrew the First-Called.”
Patriarchal Economist Fr. Lubomyr Yavorsky emphasized that the collection is an essential component of the Healing the Wounds of War program, which provides physical and mental relief to those affected by the devastation of war.
“We encourage everyone to join this noble cause and become instruments of our Church—its hands reaching out to support those in greatest need,” Fr. Lubomyr Yavorsky said.

The Andriyiv Hrish initiative was introduced by Patriarch Lubomyr Husar. Since 2007, in accordance with the decision of the UGCC Synod of Bishops, donations have been collected annually across all archdioceses, eparchies, and exarchates of the Church to deliver urgent aid to those in the greatest need.
